Letter to Fortis Community Relations:
Dear Fortis Community Relations
I’m writing this on behalf of the Naramata Fire / Rescue Department.
We understand Fortis has assisted various fire departments with funds to assist in the purchase of specialized equipment.
The Naramata Fire Department has recognized a need for some equipment to aid our members to respond and assist in a safe manner in low angle / over the bank scenarios. Over the past 18 months, we have been called out to several motor vehicle accidents where the car has gone down a steep bank or draw, giving some accessibility issues to our members. I recently took a low angle rope rescue course with the expectation to take this information and train some members in our department to set up and perform an over the bank rescue with safety to our members as a priority.
We are asking Fortis if they would be so kind to donate the sum of $3500.00 towards assisting us in the purchase of body harnesses, ropes and the other equipment required to perform this service in a safe manner when it is called upon to do so. We have some funds available from our fund raising account which will be used as well for this purchase.
