Interested in Becoming a Volunteer?

The Naramata Fire Department consists of a team of dedicated community volunteers who train to demanding professional standards. If you feel you have what it takes and are prepared to make the necessary commitment, we welcome your application.

HOW DO I JOIN?

If you are 19 years or older, and willing to serve your community as a Fire-Rescue Volunteers Trainingfirefighter, then the Naramata Fire Rescue is looking for you. 100% Volunteer - 100% Proud. If you have the time to dedicate to your community we'd love to have you.

If you are not sure about joining and want to see our operations and training for yourself, you are more than welcome to come down to the Fire Hall during our training nights and watch us in action. Please call ahead to see what we have slated.

To obtain an application to join Naramata Volunteer Fire Rescue, you can visit our hall on our practice night - Tuesday 7pm or just ask any member.

We ask for the following from applicants:

  1. Fire Department application form
  2. Medical Evaluation
  3. Current Drivers Abstract
  4. RCMP Criminal Record Check

Fire-Rescue Volunteers Recieve first-aid trainingWith your copy of the application form you will receive a copy of the "Recruiting Procedures" of the Naramata Fire Department. These procedures consist of:

  • Selection committee established to conduct interviews and receive comments from the membership
  • Committee reviews abstracts, criminal record check and medical evaluation (medical test paid for by the fire department)
  • Previous experience (firefighting, first aid, etc.)
  • Reaction from family, employer, community commitment, etc.
  • The applicant is required to attend 12 practices and training sessions.
  • After the training and evaluation period, the selection committee will prepare a report on the suitability of each candidate. This report is taken to the membership for approval.

  • Firefighter I (correspondence course)
  • Air brakes ticket
  • Adult & infant C.P.R
  • First Responder Level 3
  • A.E.D Endorsement
  • Spinal Endorsement
  • Fire Academy Training
  • And much, much more
